  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2-3 lemons) Freshly squeezed is recommended.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated Adjust according to taste.
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional) Adjust sweetness as desired.
  • Ice cubes For serving.
  • Lemon slices and mint leaves for garnish (optional) Add for presentation.

Preparation

  • Cut the watermelon into cubes, discarding the rind.
  • Place the watermelon cubes in a blender and blend until smooth.
  • If you prefer a smoother texture, strain the juice through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher.
  • Add fresh lemon juice and grated ginger to the watermelon juice. Stir well.
  • Taste and add honey or maple syrup if desired. Mix until dissolved.
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  • Pour the drink over ice and garnish with lemon slices and mint leaves, if desired.

Notes

The drink can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, but it's best enjoyed fresh. Consider freezing leftovers into ice cubes for future smoothies or cocktails.
