  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sliced strawberries and sugar.
  • Cook, stirring frequently, until the strawberries have released their juices and the mixture starts bubbling.
  • Stir in the lemon juice and vanilla extract.
  • Continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Remove from heat and let the sauce cool before serving.

Notes

Make your strawberry sauce last longer by storing leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week. You can freeze the sauce in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before using. Reheat gently.
