  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (hulled) Ripe berries taste sweeter and need less sugar.
  • 1 cup lemon juice Fresh-squeezed is best for clean, bright flavor.
  • 1 cup sugar Adjust up/down depending on berry sweetness.
  • 4 cups water Use cold; swap with sparkling water for a fizzy version.
  • to taste ice For serving.

Preparation

  • Add the hulled strawberries to a blender with a small splash of the water. Blend until smooth.
  • Pour the strawberry puree into a pitcher. Add the lemon juice and sugar. Stir well until the sugar is mostly dissolved.
  • Pour in the remaining water and stir again. Taste and adjust—add a bit more water for a lighter lemonade or a touch more sugar if your lemons are extra tart.
  • Fill glasses with ice and pour the strawberry lemonade over the top.
  • Optional: If you prefer a smoother drink, strain the puree through a fine-mesh sieve before mixing.

Notes

Garnish ideas include lemon wheels, sliced strawberries, or a sprig of mint or basil. Best served chilled with floating fruit slices. Can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.
