  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup Can be substituted with cream of chicken.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Alternatives include Monterey Jack or pepper jack.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is browned. Drain any excess fat.

Assembly

  • In a baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom, followed by half of the beef mixture.
  • Spread half of the cream of mushroom soup over the beef and sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients, finishing with the cheese on top.

Baking

  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using herbs like garlic powder or paprika. To make it healthier, substitute with sweet potatoes or plant-based meats.
