Ingredients

For the Donut Holes:

  • ½ cup ripe banana (about 1 large banana)
  • ¾ cup self-rising flour

For the Coating:

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unrefined sugar (or substitute with Monk Fruit Blend for a sugar-free version)
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil (melted, or use melted vegan butter)

For Kneading:

  • 2-3 teaspoons melted coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
Mash the banana into a smooth puree until you have about ½ cup. Add the self-rising flour and mix with a rubber spatula. When it begins to form lumps, oil your hands and knead the dough into a sticky ball. If it’s too sticky, add 2–3 tablespoons of extra flour, but be cautious not to add too much.
  2. Shape the Donut Holes:
Lightly oil your hands with melted coconut oil. Take about a tablespoon of dough, roll it into a ball, and place it on a parchment-lined plate. Repeat this for all the dough, shaping it into little balls.
  3. Air Fry the Donut Holes:
Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C). Lightly spray the basket with oil and arrange the donut holes in the basket, leaving 1 inch of space between each. Air fry them for 6-7 minutes or until they’re puffed up and golden brown.
  4. Coat with Cinnamon Sugar:
Once done, brush each donut hole with melted coconut oil using a pastry brush. Then, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture for a delightful donut flavor.
  5. Serve and Enjoy:
Serve the donut holes warm for the best flavor and texture!

Pro Tips

  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
  • Gluten-Free Option: Substitute self-rising flour with a gluten-free flour blend (don’t forget the baking powder!).
  • Flavor Boost: Add a touch of vanilla extract for a deeper flavor.
